Poached Salmon Infused With Green Tea

close-up-cooking-dinner-46239Looking for a healthy and delicious meal this holiday season, why not change it up by making a delicious Salmon poached in Teasia Green Tea. Not only is this recipe simple to make, but it’s even easier to eat.

Ingredients:
10 cups water
2 limes, halved
6 tablespoons honey, divided
4-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
2 teaspoons sea salt
2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
4 to 6 Teasia Green Tea K-cups (prepare per instructions on package)
4 (6-ounce) boneless skinless salmon filets

Instructions:

  1. Put the water into a straight sided skillet or pot with a lid. Add 2 of the lime halves (squeezing the juice into the water before adding), 5 tablespoons of the honey, the ginger, salt and the peppercorns and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to a simmer, cover and cook for 10 minutes to infuse the water with flavors. Remove and reserve ½ cup of this poaching liquid. Remove the pot from the heat and add the Teasia Green Tea. Carefully slide the salmon into the water. Cover and poach until the fish are just cooked through and firm to the touch, about 6 to 7 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small pot over low heat, simmer the reserve ½ cup of liquid along with the juice and zest of the remaining lime half, and remaining 1 tablespoon of honey. Cook until the liquid is reduced by 2/3 and thickened, 7 to 10 minutes.
  3. Remove the fish with a slotted spoon and arrange on a serving plate. Drizzle a little bit of the sauce over each piece of salmon before serving.

Classic Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are such a fun simple treat for everyone to enjoy, not to mention are extremely simple to make. The most time-consuming portion of this recipe is boiling he eggs! Presentation is key for this dish as well so don’t be afraid to use a piping bag opposed to a spoon. Once you get the technique down this will be a party favorite for you to make.

Ingredients:

6 eggs
¼ cup of Mayonnaise
1 tsp White Vinegar
1 tsp Yellow Mustard
1/8 tsp Salt
Ground Black Pepper
Spanish Smoked Paprika

Instructions:

  1. Place eggs in saucepan making sure water is above 1.5 inches from eggs
  2. Heat uncovered on high until water begins to boil
  3. Once boiling, cover pan turning heat to low for 1 minute
  4. Remove from stove top and leave covered for 15 minutes
  5. Rinse under cold water for approximately 1 minute
  6. Place eggs in ice cold water for 2-3 minutes
  7. Crack eggs individually running under cold water
  8. Gently pat dry with paper towel
  9. Slice eggs in half
  10. Remove egg-yolks into a medium bowl
  11. Place egg-whites on serving platter
  12. Mix mustard, salt, vinegar, pepper, and mayonnaise mashing yolks well
  13. Scoop egg-yolk mix into a piping bag with tip design of your choice
  14. Evenly pipe egg-yolks into egg-whites
  15. Sprinkle paprika and enjoy!

PRO TIP:  The fresher the eggs, the harder they are to peel. Choose eggs that are 4-6 days older.

Day 8: Genmaicha Green Tea

Genmaicha is a traditional Japanese green tea popularly known as “popcorn tea” from the grains of rice that pop during the roasting process. I’ve also seen Genmaicha used in some savory Japanese dishes so that may be another way to use this tea during a meal.

Flavor Highlights: Because of the bitterness, I would have this drink with lemon and accentuate the flavor.

This would be a definite go to when looking for an extra boost of energy. This was not a personal favorite because of the bitterness. But I do love sweet and sour which is why lemon and honey would go deliciously.

 

 

Paulina’s Teasia Tea-a-Day Tasting – Day 4 with Jasmine Green Tea

For Day 4, I decided to pop in the Jasmine Green Tea kcup.

Flavor Highlights: I would recommend adding your favorite milk to this drink to help tone own the floral taste as it is pretty strong. If you like your teas sweet, don’t forget to add some sugar too!

Although this was not my personal favorite, I believe this drink would be best enjoyed while reading a book because of its’ energizing properties. I picked up on the floral aroma almost immediately. I didn’t like how much it smelled and tasted like flowers and I enjoy more toned down flavors for my tea. Several of my coworkers pick Jasmine Green Tea to be one of their top teas that they drink, but I’m more of a Green Tea type of girl.

Day 2: Green Tea

I try to have at least one cup of green tea every day and I prefer this while working or enjoying a good book. What I enjoy most is the earthy blend of this Teasia tea. This blend is more flavorful than those I find in the grocery store. I like to use the K-cup twice before throwing it out, that’s how great of quality these are.

Flavor Highlights: Green tea is already a great go-to tea because of its’ health benefits and antioxidants, not to mention I definitely felt that caffeine boost after having a cup. This tea is enjoyable with honey and lemon.

The next tea that I’m trying is going to be Oolong Tea! I’m pretty excited about it so stay tuned.

  13. Scoop egg-yolk mix into a piping bag with tip design of your choice
  14. Evenly pipe egg-yolks into egg-whites
  15. Sprinkle paprika and enjoy!
