Do you find yourself drinking 2 cups of coffee and then a can of soda to keep up with your busy day? You can find caffeine in beverages you drink on a daily basis and you may not be aware of how many milligrams of caffeine is in each serving and how it affects your body. Here, we break down a few common beverages just for your reference compared to teas:

Coffee is a popular drink among us all and please keep in mind that the caffeine levels we represent are for reference only and may vary depending on various factors such as grinding and brewing procedures. In a mug of brewed coffee (about 8 ounces) may contain between 95 mg to 200 mg of caffeine. What does that mean? Some side effects may include headaches, anxiety, an upset stomach as well as trouble sleeping.

You will find 27 to 39 grams of sugar in an 8 ounce serving of a typical energy drink as well as synthetic caffeine between 6 mg to 242 mg per serving! Good luck trying to find some healthy ingredients in this beverage as there are little to no health benefits, so we recommend you avoid these if you’re looking for some energy. Some side effects may include restlessness, fast heartbeat and insomnia.

Soda. This sugary drink is enjoyed by adults and children because of the sweet flavors, the fizziness and the caffeine. Not only is a typical 12 ounce can packed with unhealthy ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and phosphor acid but it may contain between 16 to 55mg of caffeine. Similar to an energy drink, sodas do not offer any health benefits and have been blamed to cause weight gain and type 2 diabetes.
